Gulf of Taormina

Taormina, thanks to its enchanting position on the sea, is one of the most famous and fascinating places in Sicily.

The coastline it overlooks, which runs from Capo di Naxos to Capo Taormina, is one of the most beautiful in the area, rich in stacks, bays and caves such as the Grotta del Giorno (Cave of the Day), always illuminated by the glare of the sun and a shelter for fishermen, and the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto), with its evocative blue reflections in the water and bright red corals.

Famous are the Faraglioni del Capo which stand in front of Taormina, Isola Bella, a historical and artistic monument, the Bay of Mazzaro, an enchanting bay of natural charm, the Bay of St. Nicola, an ancient Roman port and the Bay of Spisone, an oasis of serenity.

An excursion by boat is the best way to admire the beauty and suggestive landscapes of this corner of eastern Sicily.
